With the opening day of the Pennsylvania Bow season approaching quickly, I found myself getting all my eggs in a row. I have been watching some deer via my Leaf River game camera. And although I have no big bucks coming into my area, the does are plentiful. With the number of does in the area, there is bound to be a buck or two wondering in.
The Blind turtle is the greatest hard-shell blind on the market. I recently put up my Blind turtle, in South East Pennsylvania, in an area I have been hunting for years. Putting up the massive blind was no problem thanks to my mom, dad, and 2 close friends. I can’t wait to start sitting in the blind that over looks a soy bean field, and in fact had 8 deer in the field while the blind was being put up.
Hunting from a blind and wearing Medalist is a deadly combination. I can’t wait to sit in the Blind Turtle, in my fleece outfit shooting deer. The Innerlocs will be flying in a few weeks. Check back and see how the Brossman’s and the Blind Turtle do, hunting in Pennsylvania. -Corey Brossman

Alligator Hunting with Corey Brossman

The team just returned from a great Bow fishing hunt in Florida. Bill, and Mitch Kline of El-Lagarto Alligator Service, put us on 3 great public water gators. Kurt Fell, the owner of the Blind Turtle Company joined me on an adventure of a lifetime.
Our first night out in the Everglades proved why hunting with a knowledgeable guy helps. In 30 minutes Mitch had a 9 foot 3 gator swimming towards the Kline airboat from 75 yard away. The Micro skin Bug proof garment from Medalist kept the nats, and spiders from doing any harm as Kurt waited for a shot with the Innerloc Hydra-Strike. The Alligator swam into 3 feet and took a Gator Grapple point to the lungs. The Lumenok lit up the evening and the Ams buoy was deployed. After a short battle Kurt bang-sticked him and was happier then anything.

Forty-five minutes later I was ready and willing. The AMS big game retriever was loaded with 640 pound line, and away we went. Bill Kline spotted a set of glowing red eyes. It was a 9 foot 1 gator, and I wasted no time in arrowing the swam lizard. The Medalist Max rain gear kept me dry, during the short rain storm we encountered during the hunt. Both gators were taken in public hunting area. The gators both had some tail missing, so I believe we could add a few inches.
During my stay in Florida, Josh Byrd was in town, and had access to a county wide tag. His friend Ron drew the tag for the same unit I was staying in. After a few days of tuff hunting, he hooked up with Mitch and I and we had a 10 foot gator staring Josh in the face. Unfortunately Josh missed 3 times. He had gator fever…. Josh did manage to shoot a great gator in the 9 foot range later that night on video.
All the gear worked well, the Medalist did its job, and all 3 kills are on video that will air next fall on Innerloc’s OutThere TV.

Corey Brossman and Medalist

My name is Corey Brossman, I host Innerlocs Out-There TV. The show airs on the Sportsman channel, Pursuit channel, Wild TV, and Myoutdoortv.com. For the past 7 years I was a freelance camera man for several outdoor companies. Being from PA, scent control was not in my vocabulary. I recall several conversations with outdoor Television personalities on stand, about how I didn’t use proper scent control methods. My father shot plenty of deer in his work clothes and that seemed fine with me. I would wash my clothes in ultra bright soap, with my regular clothes, I would pump gas before heading to the stand, and I would walk in work with the same boots I hunted in. This was the only thing I knew.

Now lets fast forward years later. At the Kinsey show a few years back Medalist approached me about using their clothing on my hunts, and in my videos. I listen to the sales pitch, and used it. Since then I have killed, more big game and have had more encounters with BIGGER game than ever. Last Winter while hunting in Pa on the opening day of bear season, I shot a Cinnamon phased bear, downwind of me. A bear’s sense of smell is great, but when using Medalist it’s defense is weak. I shot the bear at 70 yards, and I feel like the clothing worked. Last deer season , I had more deer at close range than ever. Everyone knows that while filming deer you have 2 guys, in the stand, which means 2 levels of scent. With the aid of Medalist, we were able to control the scent that the deer were unaware of our presence, and allowing me to take 2 great deer on video.

What do I do with my Medalist? The first thing I do with my Medalist, is wash it in H.S scent-away detergent, then put it in the dryer with H.S dryer sheets. I than place them in a H.S Scent-away bag. This will keep all foreign odors off. When the time comes to wear them, I put them on at my truck just before entering the woods. I still spray down with Scent-away spray, to help with any odors. We watch the wind, but I believe that with medalist, you can cheat a little, and get away with it. I still take showers, and use the H.S products to reduce my human odor, and wear rubber boots, instead of my work boots. A big change in how I entered the woods in years past.

Success story…2008 PA opening day of archery, hunting in Cameron county PA. In 3 days of hunting My dad, my 72 year old grandfather and myself all took nice 8 points. My buck was shot on the ground, at 40 yards with a camera man. My Grandfather’s deer was shot on the ground at 17 yards with a camera man. My dads buck was shot in the tree at 12 yards, with a camera man. The 3 generation hat trick was a blessing, or was it, the MEDALIST……
