With hot summer days, and no deer to legally shoot, what is it we can do as bowhunters to prep for the upcoming seasons. In PA you can woodchuck hunt, in the west you can shoot prairie dogs. Or you can bow fish.
What better way to test your Medalist appeal, then wearing a tactical shirt, or bas layers, and heading to the lake or stream with an AMS retriever on your bow tipped with an Innerloc Grapple point. If bowfishing during the day becomes boring, get a lumenok attachment and a light and bowfish at night.
Where do I bowfish? In most states bowfishing is legal with your fishing license and can be done 24 hours a day. Every state I know has carp. In some states Spoon bill catfish, Silver carp, Big Head carp, Gar and Grass carp can be targets as well as the common carp.
recently I had the privilege of spending time with AMS bowfishing’s Cindy Braun, and Matt Schillinger. Together there knowledge on bowfishing, is unmatched. Prior to my bowfishing trip with Cindy and Matt I stopped off in Kentucky to bowfish with Butch Adams, Darryl Adams, and Rick Pearson. They showed me the time of my life. I shot a 28 pound long nosed gar, and was protected to be the new state record. The gar was 58 1/4 inches and was shot at night with my Hydra Strike bow. The night also brought 40 pound plus Big head carp, and a nice Spoonbill. The second night we headed to a new spot and began a string of great shots on Silver carp. J-Rome my field producer for Innerlocs Out-There arrow ed a nice Big-Head and Silver. These guys knew the area and had no problems putting us on fish. The highlite of the show was Butch doing a swan dive into the water, after Rick brought in a nice Big-head. Butch says he was trying to get out of the way…
After leaving Kentucky we headed to Illinois to meet up with Kurt and Eric Price of Lumenok. These guys wanted me to redeem myself on some frogs. Last year I missed so many frogs, that the population grew to much. I limited out 2 days in a row, and made some very impressive shots. This show I promise will be a very entertaining show. All night long the new and Improved Lumenok amazed me. This lighted arrow nock is so bright, and dependable. I think every archer should have one on there bow.
Once we left Lumenok we headed to Henry Illinois to bowfish with Cindy and Matt. 3 of my friends joined us, for an unbelievable shoot for Silver carp…The flying fish…The AMS products and Innerloc products along with Lumenok was working great. We boated 100’s of fish, some shot and some that just jumped in for the ride. While we bowfished the Illinois state bowfishing tournament was going on. 4500 hundred fish was top boat for numbers, and Larry Sims of rivers edge Productions took top honors with largest fish with an Innerloc, and Big 30.
If you love bowhunting, bowfishing should be your summer sport. 3d shooting is fun, but getting out into the water, or on the water with right gear is fun. Check out AMSbowfishing.com and Innerloc.com to get your bowfishing gear today. As for Lumenok if you bowhunt, you should go to Lumenok.net.
