Leaf River and Medalist SilverMax – A Cool Combination

Medalist® Athletic

As a hunter from PA, the use of a trail camera never was apart of my scouting techniques growing up. I relied on sitting back and glassing many field throughout the summer months. My dads long hours spent hanging stands and glassing the ridges of Cameron county, made my hunting season fairly easy. As the year past the deer began to get a better nose, and figure our scouting practices making them more nocturnal. Until now, I had no way of figuring out the habits of the deer I hunt.
With the aid of a Leaf River game camera, and Medalist clothing, I am able to go into the woods less, and learn more. Once a week, on a farm in Berks county, I place 50 pounds of corn, and a protein mix block, to some local deer. I hunt this area, and never could pattern the deer, correctly. By that I mean I would get busted checking the fields, and would educate the deer before the season. Now don’t take the corn thing the wrong way. I will stop the corn prior to the season in respect to our PA laws. But the corn draws some deer to one place, so my Leaf River camera can capture 30 second video clips.

Where does the Medalist come in? Well every time I check my camera, or fill the ground with yellow rain, I wear my Medalist and rubber boots, so no deer smell me walking in, and no deer smell where I was. What is so cool to me, is every week, getting 400 videos to watch. I have no big bucks coming in, but I am learning about the whitetail deer. I can see plenty of does, and I do have 3 small 2 year bucks coming in, that hopefully will make it 1 more year. With all the does in the area. There is no doubt a shooter will enter the area, and give me a chance to Innerloc him.

Here is a few small clips, shot with my Leaf river camera

i saw your show about an archery hunt in cameron county.. i enjoyed it ..it was nice to see normal buck…not the huge “farm” raised deer… as a hunter that hunts potter county and allegheny county…i would really enjoy watching more of your pa hunts…Thanks for your efforts…Carl
