When Kurt and Ed Fell asked me to hunt with them in Ohio for Turkeys I was pumped. I had some time in between trips, so a hunt with the guys from the Blind Turtle was looking like a reality. Kurt had a gobbler pegged and watched the bird everyday strut with some hens passed the Blind Turtle Blind. So I grabbed my Medalist, and my Pearson and headed to Ohio.
The first morning out was priceless. I think Kurt gave the Gobbler the script. The bird flew down, and ran into our decoy spread. I am glad I had my Medalist on, because I would have been sweating like a pig if not. After rolling some footage, kyle gave me the green light to shoot, and we watched my 100 grain Innerloc broadhead, miss the gobbler at 10 yards. The bird turned and went 5 yards only to be fooled by my Hunt Nut mouth call. I drew and shot again oly to miss for the second time. My heart sank. 10 minutes later he came back, and I missed again at 30 yards. I think there was a force field around the gobbler.
On the last day of the hunt at 110:00 we found a willing gobbler, that gave me a 7 yard shot, and I finnally hit one. The bird weighed 18 pounds, with a 9 inch beard, and 3/4 spurs. A great 2 year old, that became a movie star.
I want to thank TY McCombs of Whitetail outfitters of Ohio, for letting us turkey hunt his land. TY is covered up in Deer and Turkey, and I look forward to launching some arrows in November at some of them big deer.
Thanks to Kurt and Ed Fell, for all there support on the Tv show, and for making such a great product. I made Medalist belevers out of both of them, they were very impressed on the way that Medalist perfromed in the heat.
